Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

1. Explain to the person that he/she needs to take the following steps:

Acknowledge that he/she is a sinner and needs a Savior.

Romans 3:23
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Repent of his/her sins and turn to God.

Romans 6:23
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Believe in his/her heart and acknowledge that God raised Jesus from the dead.

Romans 10:9-10
“That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Ask Jesus to come into his/her heart and be the Savior and Lord of his/her life.

Acts 4:12
“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

2. Lead the person in the following prayer or a similar one. The Holy Spirit will lead you.

Sinner’s Prayer

“Jesus, please forgive me for every sin in my life. I believe in my heart that you died on the cross for me and rose from the dead in three days, and I turn to you now. I invite you to come into my life and be my personal Savior and the Lord of my life. Help me to follow you and obey you. Thank you, Jesus.”

3. Now show the person John 5:24 or another appropriate Scripture to assure him/her of salvation to all who ask, though he/she may not feel different right now. Encourage the person to share the experience at the first opportunity.

John 5:24
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears my word and believes in Him who sent me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.”
