My New Life in Christ

BEGINNING WITH CHRIST
Welcome to the beginning of a new and wonderful experience with Jesus Christ. In John 10:10 Jesus said"...I have come that they may have life, and they may have it more abundantly." God desires that you experience a full and joyous life. Let's consider some important truths regarding your new life.

1. The Bible is food for your soul. It is just as important that your soul be nourished as your body is. Through the Word, God speaks to you and reveals His will and plan for your life. A good beginning for your Bible reading plan is to read the Gospel of John. Then continue to read the Bible every day. There are many Bible Study plans and "Reading The Bible Through In A Year" plans available at your local Christian Book Store.

2. Prayer is your way of communicating with God. It is your lifeline. The more you talk with God on a daily basis - the more you will recognize His voice when He speaks to you.

Form the habit of starting each day with a few minutes in prayer. Conversation with God may seem strange at first, and you may be awkward and find it hard to know what to say. But as you continue, your prayers will become more meaningful. Start each day with prayer, and then pray throughout the day as you feel the desire or need. Submit all of your problems to God as He cares about everything that concerns you. I Peter 5:7 states: "Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you."

3. Now that you are a Christian, it is your responsibility to witness to others concerning Jesus Christ who forgave your sins and established in you the assurance of Eternal life with Him.

Pray each day for an opportunity to share Christ with others, and you will be amazed how God will open up opportunities for you to witness. As you faithfully study the Word and memorize scriptures, you will become better equipped to share your faith in Christ.

4. In order to mature in Christ, you need to get involved in a local church. If you do not already attend somewhere, join a church where God's Word is faithfully preached and taught. Get involved in the Body of Christ. Be faithful to use your time and money generously to support the work of God in the Church.

The steps you have taken does not mean that all of your problems will disappear. It is possible that you may gain some new ones. You will find that Satan, the enemy of your soul, will try to spoil the work that God is doing in you and will try to make you doubt many things. The only way to defeat Satan is through God's Word. Follow the example of Jesus when He was tempted in the wilderness. Each time Satan tempted Him, He quoted scripture "... it is written." Matthew 4:4,7,10.

Memorize the promises in the Word, and when you are tempted, claim them. Allow the scriptures to be the anchor for your faith.

"There bath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS:
I John 1:9
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
